Release Evidence

Release evidence should let a reviewer identify the exact build and understand which controls were executed before release.

A release evidence package can include:

  • release or candidate identifier;
  • source revision;
  • build environment;
  • dependency lock;
  • software bill of materials where available;
  • test and conformance results;
  • integrity hashes or signatures;
  • migration evidence;
  • backup and restore evidence;
  • known limitations and unresolved findings.

Passing release checks supports the behavior that was actually tested.

It does not prove:

  • correctness in every environment;
  • absence of vulnerabilities;
  • regulatory compliance by itself;
  • suitability for every downstream use.

If a release gate fails, preserve the failed result and the later remediation evidence separately.

Do not rewrite the failed evidence into a successful record.
