Use Case Status Model

Every DigiEmu case study should identify its operational state explicitly.

A demonstration proves that a designed workflow can be exercised with controlled or synthetic inputs.

It does not prove live operational use.

The workflow, documentation, controls, and participant discussions are being prepared for a pilot.

A prepared pilot is not yet an executed pilot.

A defined participant is exercising the workflow under bounded conditions.

The pilot record should identify:

  • owner;
  • dates;
  • scope;
  • data conditions;
  • controls exercised;
  • observed outcomes;
  • unresolved issues.

Use this status only when the workflow is actually operating in production and the evidence identifies the accountable owner, live workflow, production status, and concrete outcome.

External verification is an additional evidence property, not a replacement for deployment status.

A demonstration can be externally verified as a demonstration. A production workflow can be production without having external verification.

Always publish the scope of the external assessment.
